While thinking of the best method to showcase my video restoration and editing abilities, I came up with the concept of the YouTube Challenge.
YouTube videos are already compromised by heavy yet effective compression, and some older content is at sub-HD resolution.
Taking these videos that suffer from loss of detail, pixilation and other visual defects and restoring them would be a good demonstrative exercise and subsequently and interesting exhibit.

Sports footage with fast motion always benefit from a higher frame rate so frame interpolation was used to increase the framerate with upscaling to recover some of the lost detail.
Points of Interest:
Note the G Forces affecting the driver’s helmet are much more prominent.
The sharpness of the car’s bodywork and the grooves of the tyres.
Precise editing to cut as majority of the corrupted frames (without negatively affecting the sound of the engine’s revs.

Animation footage particularly hand drawn like in this video are transformed by the application of some sharpening. For me the dance of the characters in this animation is very elegant and could shine even more with some frame interpolation.
Which was used to increase the framerate which added further grace to the dance movements of the characters. Some upscaling to recover some of the lost detail was also applied.
Points of Interest:
The sharpness of their reflection
The fluidity and articulation in their dance movements.
Precise editing to cut out the green demon ( as seen in the Youtube thumbnail) who appears at a few intervals during the dance of the characters.

Exhibit 3: José Mourinho Interview Footage (Analysis)
High resolution videos are not immune from improvement. José Mourinho is renowned for his viral interview quotes and comments and this occasion was no different when his Man Utd side visited his former team Chelsea.
“Talking Head” interview footage such as in this interview focuses on the subject’s face, therefore the brief here was to enhance his facial features.
Some sharpening was used to enhance them along with some upscaling to recover some additional detail.

The detail and sharpness of his hair
The detail and sharpness of his facial lines
The sharpness and detail of the sponsor backboard behind him
